Essential: A Roundtable discussion among CALAS/ACSAL members on essential services in the lab animal world
Moderator: Allison Weller
COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of essential services. However, this was a concept that was already an integral component of the laboratory animal world. Providing care to animals continues through weekends, snowstorms and pandemics. In addition to direct care of animals, protocol review and maintenance of equipment is also essential, but those providing these services may not be considered essential workers. The session will begin with a short introduction by Christine Quarrington, Senior Manager, University Health Network Animal Resources Centre. Members are encouraged to join this free round table discussion and share how feel about the concept of essential services.
