Morning Workshops:

301 - Emergency Responses and Cardiac Resuscitation in the Anesthetized Swine
Timing: TBD
$175

Participants will review how to interpret normal and abnormal physiological findings on an anesthetic monitor, including SpO2, End Tidal CO2 and Blood Pressure followed by an in-depth focus on ECG readings.  Multiple ECG rhythms will be demonstrated and interpreted.  Participants will learn how to respond appropriately to each, including emergency drug administration, CPR and defibrillation.  Some previous anesthesia experience is beneficial but not mandatory.

302 - Preparing for the RMLAT
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
$75

This session will provide an opportunity for members to have a detailed review of the Masters Certification history and process. There is an open forum to ask questions and be provided with helpful tips towards successful completion of the certification. Attendees will be asked sample questions typical of the examination process. This is a low stress welcome into what is typically viewed as a rigorous and highly coveted certification in this line of work. Candidates who successfully complete the program are typically in or moving to lead hand or managerial roles. Limited number of registration spots to ensure direct attention and coaching for each attendee.

303 - Designer Genes – how to make and use genetically engineered mice
Timing: Full day Workshop
$250

Using a combination of lectures and practice exercises, you will learn the basic genetic principles used for creating and managing genetically modified mouse colonies.  Topics covered include using public data resources to find welfare information for existing genetically engineered mice and applying basic genetic principles to colony management.

Cryopreserving mouse lines is a critical part of good colony management, thus, under the guidance of experienced instructors, you will have the opportunity to dissect mouse cauda.  Dissected cauda can be used for transferring mouse sperm between facilities and/or for sperm cryopreservation.

Afternoon Workshops:
