Responsibilities

The Animal Care Technician will be responsible for performing cleaning duties associated with ACVS-managed animal facilities, in accordance with all standard operating procedures and using ergonomically sound practices. The role will assist with maintaining inventories and associated record keeping for cleaning, bedding and feed supplies; performing preventative maintenance of facility equipment and autoclaves; and liaising with facility leaders with respect to equipment maintenance and monitoring.

Qualifications

Education:
-   High School Diploma

Experience:
-   1 year of experience in mechanical preventative maintenance of large-scale equipment
-   1 year of experience working with animals in a professional setting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Ability to consistently utilize ergonomically sound processes in accordance with guidelines   
-   Ability to foster collaboration and respect among team members

-   Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas, and adapt communication style to suit the situation
     and audience

-   Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed records and reports

-   Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation

-   Ability to follow formal business practices and maintain electronic and physical records with high attention to  
    detail

-   At ease handling sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy

-   Discretion, tact, and maturity to deal with highly confidential subjects or issues

-   Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work

-   Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite

-   Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community

-   Ability to ensure a safe environment by identifying, resolving, and reporting safety hazards

-   Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
