Registered Master Laboratory Animal Technician

This level is for those who have a minimum 5 years laboratory animal experience post RLAT certification. The RMLAT is aimed at the supervisory and management level.

RMLAT Application Requirements
Completion of the RLAT and 5 years post-RLAT certification (2010 or earlier) work experience in the laboratory animal science field, at the time of application (October 1st) or Completion of the RLAT and 5 years managerial work experience in the laboratory animal science field, at the time of application (October 1st)

Please keep in mind that after two attempts at the written exam a mandatory moratorium of one year is required before submitting another application.

Résumé and a letter from employer confirming work experience You will be required to submit all relevant certifications, degrees and schools you have attended

About the Exam
Written examination, technical/scientific paper to be written, oral exam

  • Written examination
    • Consists of ten (10) long answer questions
    • Exam takes place in February
    • Passing mark is 60%
  • Technical/Scientific Paper
    • Only candidates that were successful in the written exam will submit a paper
    • Paper due to National Office by April 28th
  • Oral Exam
    • Takes place at Symposium
